ARTIST STATEMENT
Code of Silence is a moving image work that explores memory, absence, and the unspoken dynamics that exist within familiar domestic spaces. Set within an interior shaped by routine and repetition, the work reflects on gradual change and the quiet negotiations that unfold when language begins to falter.
Through voice, silence, and embodied presence, the work examines how identity and meaning are sustained when direct communication becomes unstable. Acts of speaking, listening, and recording function as gestures of care, preservation, and resistance against erasure.
Rather than presenting a linear narrative, the work unfolds through fragments, repetition, and pauses. These formal strategies mirror the disjointed nature of remembering, allowing moments of intimacy and distance to coexist.
Code of Silence considers the tension between what is held privately and what can be shared, revealing how connection persists within spaces shaped by loss, restraint, and enduring attachment.
